Salmon chowder. Made a note in JOY that the recipe was too potato heavy. Or my 2 potatoes were too big.
Chocolate chip cookies for my coworkers. Felt like baking something easy. Classic JOY recipe.
Lunch and dinner for the next few days.
Corn cobbs submerged in milk, with bacon, onions, celery and potatoes. Bacon grease = VERY HOT. Had a minor mishap with a plastic spoon.

Maple-whipped sweet potatoes topped with hazelnut brown butter. A recipe from NY Mag. Great, but I liked it better without the hazelnuts. A little bit of maple syrup and sour cream whipped in with sweet potatoes… just right.
Turkey Cranberry Stew. I found this recipe online (I needed to do something with all the leftover turkey in the fridge). It was pretty bland though. I won’t do it again. I didn’t have a scale to weigh the turkey so I think I added more than a pound. It was just a big bowl of meat with no flavor. And the cranberries were awkward. Boo.

When my pie was in the oven it started flooding— the dough was too thin around the edges and all the apple goo started seeping out. I thought it was ruined (I wanted to make a flawless apple pie) but it turned out so even it looks intentional. And now there’s this caramelized goodness that makes getting to the crust more exciting. Three cheers for imperfection.
The crust is difficult.
